2012

This is going to be a annual blog sooner or later! hahaha! Hi everybody! so sorry for the last update. AGAIN! i will try my best to update as much as I can. Well, for starters, it's already the year 2012! whoo! The year where everything is going to be different and so much better! not the end of the world. teehee! Lok Yuk's first Interact Club meeting was last week and I hoped that everyone had fun because we started off a lil late due to some technical problem. But we did manage to split ourselves into groups and kicked off with playing some ice breaker games! :D I really hope that this year we all would be able to get to know each other and really become a club rather than another boring school club. :) I did not manage to take pictures of the first meeting but I will the next time we have our activities. If there is any Lok Yuk Interactors reading this, I'll do my best with the rest of the board to come up with better stuff this year for the club!

Let's see what else did we do for the past two months. We had our annual ROOTBEER SALES!!! It was really awesome and hectic! we managed to sell and earn some funds for the club's expenses. :) Scooping ice cream, pouring the drinks and spilling it was all so much fun! I did take some pictures and will try to post it up. :)

It almost slipped my mind. The pictures for Installation Night last year is finally out! I'll try my best to update the nice ones but I am not guaranteeing you guys that the photos are taken by professionals though. :) it's not bad though! at least they show the times we had especially towards the end :D so stay tune!

IT'S YEAR 2011!

HI PEEPS! Sorry that the LAAAAAAST post was actually like what? last year? Things have been busy and we couldn't really find time to keep our Interact blog updated. I'll try my very best to keep it as updated as i can? okies? :D

So, it's already August. :) That means Interact club already had our International Understanding Bazaar and Bakat Interact. Sorry but I don't have the pictures for both events. I'll try to ask around and try to upload it up here kays? Sowie! For IU Day, Lok Yuk represented..... *drum rolls please!*
TADA! AMERICA! TEEHEE! We did a mash up of dances for the dance part. :D From Pocahontas to the King of Pop Micheal Jackson!
Whoots! Our dancers did an AWESOME job although we didn't win. There's always next year right? :D we had a really last minute but cute stall with the help of Natalie, Stacey, Vivian and the rest. They all did their very best! :D we sold quiches, homemade dream catchers, hotdogs and Rootbeers! whee~ Everyone had a really good time alright.

Next up in line was Bakat Interact. We didn't do our Bakat Lok Yuk due to several reasons. And guess what? OUR BAND WON FIRST RUNNER UP! awesome right? Sara Hana, Izzat and Natalie Prabha did an awesome job in singing! The band did a great job as well! :D PROUD OF YOU PEOPLE! :D I'll try to find photos of bakat as well. mhmm.... So try to be patience okay guys? :) Upcoming would be the annual Installation Night. PHEW! It's going to be one heck of a night because LOK YUK IS HOSTING! whoots! But nevertheless, it'll be an awesome night because other Interact Clubs will also be included. So people. when the tickets come out, GET THEM!!! I promise you that it'll be a Interact version of Prom Night!

As for our own school's activities, we had them on monday afternoons remember? Lok Yuk is done with extra-curriculum activities. So I'll go through briefly what we did during our meetins okay? :D We did stuff like making Teachers' Day cards which everyone had a blast colouring, cutting, pasting and all sorts behind the school hall :P, all sorts of games that made everyone bond, and of course SELLING ROOTBEERS AT THE STARTING OF THE YEAR! :D It was a lot of fun and we made quite a bit of money alright. ;) You guys remember the MASSIVE EARTHQUAKE at Japan during March right? Our Interact Club did our part in selling really cute stickers to earn dough and we gave what we managed to collect to the Japanese Ambassador. :3 We all love Japan now don't we? Teehee!

So yea. That's about everything I wanna tell everyone reading this post. I'll update the photos I manage to find as soon as I can. Pinky promise. :D So stay tune to our Lok Yuk Interact Blog!:D

P/S: The previous blogger retired and I'm taking over. So sorry if i suck. Bear with the new girl okay? :D

Twenty Ten

This year was a blast~

From the success of carrying out all kinds of activities to stronger bonds between all Interactors!

As youths, we've managed to carry out our services as Interactors! We've played our parts in our school and community!

We've done well in repaying our debts to our teachers with washing their cars and helping out our students with the Avoidable Blindness campaign!

It was not an easy journey but with the help of our awesome President Angelmerici Wong and the whole board, we've managed to do well in all our activities :) with the help of our beautiful teacher adviser, Teacher Dorothy, we've done much more than we could have possibly imagined.

The year was a good one, filled with good memories and good work.

We look forward for another year of uplifting the motto of Interact.

Career Talk!

The Career Talk was held on the 27th of February at the Sabah Credit Corporations Center. It started at 9am to 1pm. The Talk was hosted by Mr. Jack Ong.

The Talk started off with some icebreakers to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease by the Rotarians as well as the Sabah Credit Corporations staff. After some fun and games, we then had some Chikung exercises to loosen up our tensions and awaken our senses. Next up, some songs were played for us to sing along to such as Flying Free, Sayang Kinabalu and more.

The first session of the career talk was lead by Mr. Vincent Kung on Accountancy. He enlightened us with his experience as well as the important steps to be taken if you wanted to become a successful accountant. Next up was Tengku Adlin with Tourism. The booming industry in Sabah just proves that we need more talent and man power in this industry as he leads us to learn more about this growing field. After that, we had Mr. Chong to enlighten us on Architecture and Mr. Warren Chan to tell us more about Civil Engineering.

After a short break, the second session started off with Ms. Catherine Chau telling us all about Law and how to get to the top without breaking a sweat. There was also Ms. Jasmine who told us about The International English Course for Further Studies and Dr. Ravi who spoke to us on Medicine.

Before everyone left, there was a short photo session. Everyone left with thoughts on their future careers and it was a definite help to us Interactors.

Sports Day Sale!!!!

The crowds lining up to be served.
Our Interact members busy fulfilling the orders!

The Interact Members who were involved in the sales!

Following the success of our root beer floats sales on the Annual School Run, we decided to repeat our success once again by selling the root beer floats. Instead of using coupons again, we decided to allow students who did not manage to use them on the Annual Run to use them. We then proceeded to sell root beer floats directly on the day itself. The sale was a definite success as students were pouring in like the rain to buy the root beer floats. The Interact Members who were on duty to sell and make the floats were working very hard and were working at a synchronized pace to ensure everyone's satisfaction as always our motto is Service Above Self.

The Floods Of Root Beer Floats!

To start the year off for the Interact Club off with a blast, we decided to sell root beer floats on the Annual SMK Lok Yuk Run. There were two types of coupons being sold, a big cup to quench their thirst and small cups to just lighten up their spirits, to differentiate the coupons, colour coupons were used. The sales of the root beer floats was a major success as students could not get enough of the delicious floats. Our Interact Members worked hard in all aspects of the sale. From their brilliant marketing skills, to the creative flush towards the coupons, the directive orders from our teacher adviser and our president, not to mention the members who helped out on the day itself, scooping ice cream, collecting the coupons as well as making sure everyone has their fair share of the floats. It was a great way to start the year and it definitely was a fun experience for all the Interact members involved!
